Hammondsport

Keuka Lake Vineyards was founded in 1993 by Mel Goldman, after he and his wife fell in love with the Finger Lakes on a camping trip the year prior. With his passion for the area, combined with a dream to one day plant a vineyard after several farming experiences earlier in life and a love for fine wine, so began Keuka Lake Vineyards.

In the early years, the Vineyard sold its crop to local wineries. As the years passed and the vines matured, Mel quickly saw the quality of his grapes and in 2005 he committed to making KLV’s first vintage.

Today, KLV’s estate vineyards have grown substantially to include 40 acres on the east and west slopes of the southern end of Keuka Lake. They grow six varietals, both vinifera and hybrids, and have an intense focus on respect and honor for the land, growing as a sustainable vineyard.

KLV strongly affirms that there are both vinifera and hybrids that can make beautiful wines, and has the accolades to back it up - twice winning Best Red Wine in New York State with their Leon Millot, and garnering several 90+ point scorings over the years across varietals. At KLV, it distills down to knowing what varietals can produce beautiful wine in the area, tending to them and the land well, and giving them a winemaking backbone to shine.
