Geneva
This year, Billsboro Winery celebrates its 20th anniversary under the ownership of Kim and Vinny Aliperti, marking two decades of producing small-batch, dry wines in the Finger Lakes.
After leaving Long Island’s wine country to move to the Finger Lakes in 2000, the Alipertis began the next chapter of their winemaking careers, first at Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard and later at Atwater Estate Vineyards. In 2006, the opportunity to start their own venture finally became a reality.
Jennifer Morris and Dr. Bob Pool, a Cornell viticultural researcher, founded the original Billsboro Winery in 1999—Geneva’s very first bonded winery—and were looking to pass the baton.
What began as a small operation producing 1,000 cases has grown steadily over the past two decades. Today, production has more than quadrupled. Unlike many wineries, Billsboro’s model has always relied entirely on purchasing locally grown grapes.
Over the years, the winery has developed strong partnerships with some of the region’s top vineyards while continuing to cultivate new relationships to diversify its grape sourcing.
From the beginning, Billsboro focused on producing relatively small batches of dry wines, many bottled from single-vineyard sources. That vision continues today, though the winery now works with a larger network of growers and offers a broader range of wines.
A note from Kim: “We are keenly aware of our responsibility to steward the land and the watershed. We want to ensure that future generations have the same opportunities we were fortunate to receive.”
SELECTION
2023 Pinot Noir
‘23 Pinot Noir - A light, delicate body with well-balanced red fruits and wild herbs. Lithe, lively, and fresh on the palate. Aged in neutral French oak for 8 months.
12% ABV
2024 Riesling
The 2024 Riesling shows off the ripeness of the vintage as well as the nuance and verve of its vineyard - Sawmill Creek. This site in Hector, NY has long been our source for Riesling, and its gravelly soils and west-facing slopes produce excellent fruit year after year. That complexity takes center stage in this semi-sweet bottling: apple, citrus, tropical fruits, and with a signature mineral richness on the finish.
10.2% ABV. RS 3.4%
2025 Rose of Cabernet Franc-Cabernet Sauvignon
Raspberry, cherry, grapefruit, lime, smoked sea salt, and peppercorn, with a bright intensity of flavor and a creamy palate.
14.3% ABV
2025 Sauvignon Blanc
While less common in the Finger Lakes, this is a Billsboro staple and has been a favorite of winemaker/co-owner Vinny Aliperti since his early days.
The 2025 vintage offers abundant classic aromas of white pepper and citrus zest. Clean and crisp with a relaxed palate, as befits the warm vintage.
12.3% ABV
2024 Uva Bubbly
A carbonated Gruner Veltliner & Cayuga White blend. The combination of a traditional European wine grape with a locally developed hybrid varietal gives the Uva Bubbly a singularly FLX personality. Showcasing a mix of zesty herbs and fresh fruit riding along a gentle structure to pair with light appetizers or a summer day.
