Bright Leaf is an award winning, family owned and operated farm winery located on the east side of Cayuga Lake.
Our 14 acres of vines are planted on a south-west slope in close proximity to the lake, to provide both optimal sun exposure (which hastens the ripening process of the grapes), and strong prevailing breezes that encourage ventilation for the vines. Bright Leaf Vineyard is really two vineyards, including an upper and lower field, divided by a quarry of Tully limestone, which runs north-south through the farm. This creates two different soil types: Aurora loam (uphill from the quarry, with excellent drainage and higher acidity) and Cazenovia silt (downhill from the quarry, heavier, clay soils). We have planted our white varietals in the cooler uphill block (Hillside Vineyard) on the gravel/shale soils. The red varietals are planted closer to the lake (Lakeside Vineyard) on the heavier, richer clay soil.

'19 Eclair
A truly special methode champenoise blend of 74% Pinot Noir and 26% Chardonnay. Aged for nearly 6 years before finishing, producing a crisp and clean nose with classic aromas of brioche, golden apple, and a touch of lemon, with a bold, textured and lively palate.
12.6% ABV.
'19 Merlot
A smooth Finger Lakes Merlot, that’s only getting more complex with age. Aged for 25 months in 25% new French oak, this vintage showcases medium tannin and body with classic Merlot notes of plum and black cherry, with a touch of butterscotch on the finish.
14.1% ABV.
'22 Semi Dry Riesling
Bright aromas of apricot, tropical fruit, and a touch of green apple and petrol accompany a balanced palate with a touch of sweetness.
11.7% ABV, 1.2% R.S.
'23 Cabernet Franc
A big, bold style of Cabernet Franc, aged in neutral oak for 18 months. This wine blends classic red fruit notes with big tannin and bright acidity. Great to pair with food, decant and sip, or cellar for years to come.
14.4% ABV
'23 Cabernet Sauvignon
A classic presentation of Cabernet Sauvignon with a strong core of black cherry, black currant, plum and strong tannins, balanced with a touch of vanilla on the finish.
13.5% ABV.
'23 Dry Riesling
Fruit forward, with green apple aromas and flavor bursting from the glass. Well complimented by lime zest and a touch of minerality, with a crisp dry finish.
12.1% ABV. 0.6% R.S.
'24 Cabernet Franc Rose
A fruit forward and bright blend of 87% Cabernet Franc and 13% Lemberger. Strong red fruit aromas and a touch of cranberry on the palate, with playful acidity.
13.1% ABV, 0.5% R.S.
'24 Chardonnay
A classic stainless steel Chardonnay, with a medium-bodied palate and smooth golden apple and lemon notes. Finishes crisp, welcoming another sip.

'24 Esprit
Lively fine bubbles accompany a smooth palate of green apple and apricot. Mixes beautifully with a touch of grapefruit juice, or wonderful on its own.

Ice Wine
A true ice wine, made of grapes picked between 12 and 16 °F. With a bit more balance than your typical ice wine presentation, it showcases classic golden raisin and honey characteristics, balanced by lemon zest. Perfect for a glass after dinner.
