SENECA LAKE, NY

Atwater Vineyards crafts expressive, small-batch wines from our eighty-acre estate on the eastern slopes of Seneca Lake. Our unique site boasts a microclimate ideal for grape production, and we are intimately connected to every vine we grow. This hands-on knowledge allows us to lovingly cultivate the grapes in our vineyards with precision, balance, and high-quality control. Our low-intervention approach lets the land speak—each bottle reflecting the vintage, the soil, and the people behind it.

For us, sustainability is more than a slogan—it’s an ongoing commitment. As a proud member of the NY Sustainable Winegrowing Program, we farm with intention, make wine with integrity, and nurture meaningful connections with our community, on the vineyard and around the table.

“Atwater Vineyards makes honest wines reflective of our region, vineyard site, and vintage. This means no chaptalization to increase sugar levels at harvest nor any acidity adjustments, and we utilize spontaneous yeasts that are already on the grapes. When we age wines in oak, we use neutral barrels to not overpower the grapes’ primary characteristics. We always give dry white and skin-fermented wines some amount of lees contact and encourage them to complete malolactic conversion spontaneously. The red Vinifera wines are fermented on their skins until cap fall then reside in neutral oak barrels for nine to ten months with very little filtration; we keep all our wine vegan by never fining any wine.”
